Philosophy
|
Early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring,
and discovery. The Ernestine Rivers Child Care Center program is based on
developmentally age appropriate curriculum. We believe that all children can learn.
Learning is a lifelong process that must begin in the early years. Children need to
have meaningful and hands-on experiences to enrich learning. Learning must take place
in a nurturing and safe environment. We must help children form a positive attitude
toward self and others with mutual respect for all. Our mission is to educate the total
child through innovative and fundamental curricula; utilizing the resources of our teachers,
parents and the community. |

| ERCC/Memphis City Schools Pre-K Program |
| ERCC has been chosen by Memphis City Schools as part of the Voluntary Pre-K
for Tennessee initiative. The purpose is to provide for Tennessee's at risk
four year old children to have an opportunity to develop school readiness
skills (pre-academic and social skills), in an environment that fosters the
love and joy for learning and promotes success in future grade levels.

Health and Nutrition
|
| It is the policy of ERCC to serve the highest quality of nutritional food
to our children. We participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program
(CACFP) and follow the guidelines established by the USDA. This practice
promotes normal healthy growth and sets the tone for learning. |
