Rev. Dr. Maxine L. Thomas

Rev. Dr. Maxine L. Thomas is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She and her husband of 36 years Rev. Troy Thomas are the Senior Pastor and Co-Pastor of St. Andrew AME Church. Dr. Thomas is the founder and Executive Director of Sisters Keeping the Covenant, a ministry of healing and wellness for women and teen girls. She has presented dynamic conferences for women for nearly 30 years providing ministry to thousands of women and teen girls throughout the East Coast and Midwest regions and also, Bermuda. Her signature features include: The Queen’s Court; Health Check Highway; Crowned For Success Seminar; Women Clergy Clinic and Spa; and The Prayer Parlor.

Dr. Thomas is also the Student Services Specialist at Memphis Theological Seminary providing vocational as well as pastoral counseling.

Dr. Thomas earned her B.A. degree in Communication from Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, OH, her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ, and her Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmor, KY. Her doctoral thesis was “African American Women Developing Ministries to meet the Needs of African American Women in the 21st Century.” She is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Regent University studying Organizational Leadership.

Dr. Thomas has served as a mentor to several doctoral students at Payne Theological Seminary, Lexington Theological Seminary; Asbury Theological Seminary; and Memphis Theological Seminary.

Dr. Maxine was an Adjunct Professor in the Religious Studies Department at Tennessee State University, Simmons College of Kentucky, Midway University, Hofstra University, and Bluegrass Community and Technical College. Some of her favorite classes that she taught were Women’s Issues, Foundations of Community, and Human Dignity.

She is also the President and Founder of My Sister’s Keeper Bible and Leadership Academy, which provides a Certificate in Biblical Studies and Church Leadership. Nearly three hundred women as well as men have graduated from the Academy.

Dr. Thomas is a former television talk show host and founded Adonai Christian Talk Show on Long Island in New York. She also co-hosted Just Between Us, a community television talk show in Cape May, NJ. Additionally, she was the Church News Editor for the Baltimore Afro American Newspaper and remains a columnist for the Christin Recorder. She is also a former radio personality with the Maxine Thomas Show. She remains an international columnist, and is also the author of four Christian books for women.

Dr. Thomas is an innovator and visionary leader and believes one of her unique gifts is in birthing new ministries in churches as well as helping others to birth their own God inspired ministries.

Dr. Thomas is the mother of three anointed and gifted young adult daughters, and two sons in love. She is the SweetMa of three beautiful and precious granddaughters and three handsome grandsons.

Rev. Dr. Thomas is a dynamic and anointed preacher and teacher, a mentor, confidante, sister and friend. Dr. Maxine loves the Lord and loves serving God’s people.
